Ever Baldwin American, b. 1978

Biography
Ever Baldwin (b. 1978, Brookline, MA. Lives and works in Catskill, NY) creates richly material paintings that explore the oscillation between observation and sensation. Baldwin’s thickly worked oil paintings, often fused to torched wooden frames, flicker between abstraction and representation, revealing and obscuring faces, bodies, and architectural forms. Empowered by marble dust and other thickening agents, each mark carries a heightened physical and emotional weight, resulting in paintings that feel excavated as much as painted. Baldwin's practice embraces transformation and ambiguity, using material processes to evoke memory, perception, and the instability of images.

Select solo exhibitions include Spotlight: Ever Baldwin at Vielmetter (2026); Stranger in the Echoes at Marinaro (2024); Down the Line at the Ogunquit Museum of American Art (2023); and Quiet Yes at Marinaro, New York (2022). Baldwin has also been included in group exhibitions at Modern Art, London (2023); Marinaro, New York (2023, 2025); Vielmetter, Los Angeles (2023); White Columns, New York (2024); and The University of Texas at Dallas (2025). Baldwin’s work is held in the collections of the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami, the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, the Ogunquit Museum of American Art, and the Zimmerli Art Museum.
